Supporting a Smooth Transition to Secondary School
At our school, we understand that the move from primary to secondary education is a significant milestone in a child’s life. That’s why we place great emphasis on preparing our Year 6 pupils for this exciting next step.
Throughout Year 6, we provide a carefully structured programme of support designed to build confidence, independence, and readiness for secondary school. This includes opportunities to discuss hopes and concerns, explore what life is like at secondary school, and develop key skills that will help pupils thrive in their new environment.
Our pupils go on to attend a wide range of secondary schools, including:
- Lavington School
- St John's Marlborough
- Dauntsey's School
- Stonar
- Warminster School
- South Wilts Grammar School
- Bishop Wordsworth's School
We work closely with families to ensure each child’s transition is as smooth and positive as possible. Where enhanced transition support is needed, we collaborate directly with the receiving secondary school to put tailored plans in place. This might include additional visits, meetings with key staff, or bespoke transition activities to help children feel secure and supported.
Our goal is to ensure every child leaves us feeling confident, prepared, and excited for the next chapter in their educational journey.
